It is whispered that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (SM8650) SoC will flaunt a revamped architecture, transitioning from the “1+2+2+3” configuration to a “1+5+2” setup. This anticipated modification hints at a more potent performance core with an elevated frequency. Furthermore, it is reported that the chip will be fabricated using the advanced TSMC N4P process.

The gossip mill suggests that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will consist of one Cortex-X4 prime core, five A720 performance cores, two A520 power efficiency cores, and an Adreno 750 GPU. Intriguingly, the credible leaker Ice Universe expects the Adreno 750 GPU to bring substantial performance enhancements compared to its precursor, the Adreno 740. The chip is also believed to sport a 10MB L3 cache, an upgrade from the 8MB L3 cache present in the previous version.

A Geekbench listing suggests the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 garnered 2563 points in the GeekBench single-core test and 7256 points in the multi-core test. Both scores are fairly remarkable, but the significant leap in the multi-core test scores compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC indicates serious enhancements are on the horizon. Furthermore, the chip garnered an impressive AnTuTu score of 1,712,271, with the CPU and GPU contributing 331,292 and 853,295 points respectively.
