Sony's new truly wireless earbuds model makes another appearance
The truly wireless earbuds model that Japanese tech giant Sony has been working on for some time now has shown itself once again. Here are the known features of the new device.
The anticipated launch of Sony's WF-1000XM5 seems to be on the horizon. We've previously reported on a leak revealing some of its primary features, and now a recent certification sighting suggests that the product release is imminent.
The new sighting of Sony's upcoming flagship truly wireless earbuds has emerged from the Wireless Power Consortium. This follows a prior sighting on the FCC certification website, as well as a design leak a few months ago. The latest certification reveals that the WF-1000XM5 is set to include Qi wireless charging, supporting up to 2W wireless charging, consistent with its predecessor. The device's model number, Y2963, was also disclosed in the certification process.
Past leaks suggest that the design of the new earbuds will be reminiscent of the WF-1000XM4 model. However, each earbud of the new model is expected to weigh only 5.9 grams, compared to the XM4's 7.3 grams. Moreover, earlier reports hint that the XM5 may provide up to 24 hours of audio playback when used in conjunction with a charging case. There are even rumors that a mere 3 minutes of charging could yield approximately an hour of playback.
While specific details about these earbuds remain somewhat uncertain, the Sony WF-1000XM5 is rumored to launch later this month or potentially even in August 2023. Prospective buyers can anticipate that these earbuds will come equipped with superior features such as multipoint connectivity and active noise cancellation (ANC).
