Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 tripled its predecessor
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset introduced by Qualcomm scored 200% higher than its predecessor, reaching three times its score.
On the second day of the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit 2023 taking place in Hawaii, Qualcomm unveiled significant details about its new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform designed for top-tier Android smartphones. The highlight was the impressive performance statistics, which show that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has achieved over a 200% performance boost compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, introduced just under two years ago.
Qualcomm demonstrated the prowess of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 by running tests using five renowned benchmarking tools: Antutu v10 benchmark, Geekbench 6, 3DMark Wild Life Extreme, 3DMark Solar Bay, and AI Mark. Among these, the results from the Antutu v10 benchmark were particularly notable. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 recorded an unprecedented score of 2,139,281, making it the first-ever chipset to surpass the 2 million mark on the Antutu benchmark. For context, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 devices previously recorded scores below 1 million in the same test.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 tripled its predecessor
A comparison was conducted to illustrate the evolution of the Snapdragon series' performance. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 showed a 233% performance boost over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the Antutu test, essentially making it more than double as powerful. When delving into the scores from other benchmarks, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 achieved a multi-core score of 7501 and a single-core score of 2329 in the Geekbench 6. Meanwhile, in the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme, it marked 5338, and in 3DMark Solar Bay, it reached a score of 8597. Notably, the device only heated up to 39 degrees Celsius even after three consecutive runs of the 3DMark Solar Bay. Wrapping up the benchmarks, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 topped the AI Mark with a score of 240,147, outclassing 99% of the competing devices in the smartphone realm.
