Second generation HomePod improves upon repairability, teardown suggests
The second generation HomePod is reportedly more repairable than its predecessor, requiring less effort to disassemble due to reduced use of adhesive.
The second-generation HomePod is an upgraded version of its predecessor, with various new or improved features and a relatively affordable price. However, Apple did not highlight one of its major upgrades, which is its much more repairable design.
HomePod 2 is much more repairable than first-gen HomePod
According to iFixit, the second-generation HomePod is much easier to repair compared to the original model, which was notoriously difficult to fix and sometimes required cutting tools. The new smart speaker has a design that makes it easier to open.
The latest model of the HomePod, the second generation, has been designed to be much easier to repair compared to its previous version. It is a smart speaker that offers a range of new and improved features and an affordable price. To repair the HomePod, one just needs to remove the mesh grille, unscrew a few covers, and start the disassembly process.
The internal components of the second-gen HomePod are similar to the original one, but there are fewer tweeters. Additionally, a temperature and humidity sensor has been added, which is the same module used in the HomePod Mini.
The power cable is also more easily removable, compared to the difficulty experienced in removing the power cable of the previous HomePod model.
Although Apple should be praised for making the HomePod 2 more repairable, it should be noted that it is just a large desktop speaker and should not have been difficult to repair in the first place.
