Bad news for those anticipating smart rings from Samsung
While smartwatches and smartphones are the current focus, smart rings are next in line. However, Samsung feels a bit more waiting is in order.
Anticipation continues to build around the Samsung Galaxy Ring. Recent discoveries within the Galaxy Wearable app's code have hinted at a January 2024 launch date. However, recent insights from the South Korean publication, The Elec, propose a potential delay, suggesting that the Galaxy Ring might see the light of day either in late 2024 or even early 2025.
Sources claim Samsung intends to unveil the Galaxy Ring in conjunction with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, expected sometime between August and October 2024. Yet, an early 2025 release hasn't been ruled out.

This altered timeline diverges from earlier speculations, which projected a January 2024 launch. It's been suggested that the reason for this uncertainty may lie in Samsung's aspirations to acquire medical approval for the device. Such a move would necessitate rigorous regulatory clearance, especially for data gathered by sensors such as heart rate monitors, possibly causing further launch delays.
Typical product development spans seven to eight months. If you factor in the pursuit of medical endorsements, which can extend the timeline by another 10 to 12 months, a 2025 release becomes increasingly plausible. Moreover, The Elec's findings imply that Samsung is in the process of creating a singular model of the Galaxy Ring, which would be available in four different sizes. Despite the uncertainties surrounding its release date, it's probable that Samsung will make an official announcement about the product in the foreseeable future.
