Apple Vision Pro's intriguing features continue to emerge
The American tech giant Apple's augmented reality glasses, Apple Vision Pro, keeps coming into the spotlight with new information every day.
The unveiling of Apple Vision Pro at MWC 2023 has taken the tech world by storm. This first-of-its-kind mixed-reality headset by Apple, loaded with the VisionOS, is characterized by its ultra-high-resolution dual OLED displays that boast a combined 23 million pixels. While Apple has specified a refresh rate of 90Hz for these screens, there are whispers suggesting its potential to stretch up to 100Hz, depending on the displayed content. DuanRui, a known Twitter informant, backs this claim, hinting at a variable refresh rate feature that adjusts in line with the content. To put things in perspective, standard iPhones offer a refresh rate of 60Hz, whereas the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro can ramp it up to 120Hz.
A refresh rate of 90Hz is often seen as the foundational requirement for a seamless virtual reality experience. This is because our brain perceives motion at this rate as akin to real-life movement. The intricacies of spatial computing suggest that even if the rate slightly dips below 90Hz, the difference might be negligible to the human eye.
Apple Vision Pro's intriguing features continue to emerge
Though Apple Vision Pro is a work in progress, its slated release is in the early months of 2024. Priced at a whopping $3,499, it's gearing up to be Apple's priciest offering to date. Despite its steep cost, the headset is engineered to be compatible with a myriad of renowned iPhone and iPad applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Disney+, and Sky Guide. Apple has further raised the bar by announcing its compatibility with the Unity game engine, ensuring that users are in for a diversified and enthralling array of experiences.
