Apple AirTag 2's release got postponed
The release date for one of Apple's eagerly awaited devices, the AirTag 2, has been postponed quite far.
In 2021, Apple introduced the AirTag, a compact smart tracker designed to help users monitor their valuable possessions. With the success of the initial AirTag, there was considerable anticipation for the launch of its successor, the AirTag 2, which was initially rumored to debut in 2024. However, recent information suggests that there might be a delay in its release.
Prominent analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that Apple's plans to begin mass production of the AirTag 2 have been postponed. Instead of the previously forecasted 2024 start, Kuo now expects mass production to commence only by 2025.
Apple AirTag 2's release got postponed
Earlier on, Kuo had predicted that the AirTag 2's mass production would start in the last quarter of 2024. It's believed that Apple is aiming to establish a new spatial computing ecosystem, positioning the Vision Pro as a central device. This ecosystem would incorporate the AirTag 2. Yet, the specifics of how the smart tracker will collaborate with the Vision Pro remain uncertain. There's speculation about the potential use of the AirTag 2’s UWB chip to share positional information with the headset.
While the AirTag 2 is anticipated to bring enhancements over its predecessor, such as an extended battery life and a broader range, these details are still speculative. For now, it's best to await more concrete details on the device's features and capabilities.
