Why should I buy a Asus ROG Ally? Here is the answer!
Asus has made headlines with the launch of their latest gaming handheld, the ROG Ally, at a global event.
The Asus ROG Ally represents a significant advancement in the realm of Windows handhelds. Its 7-inch IPS display offers Full HD resolution with 1920 x 1080 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate and boasts 500 nits of peak brightness, protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The device's variable refresh rate (VRR) and low frame compensation (LFC) ensure a smooth gaming experience down to 30fps.
The real highlight of the ROG Ally is the powerful processor it houses. The handheld sports the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, which is based on AMD's cutting-edge Zen 4 architecture. There is also a more affordable model that comes with a slightly less powerful Ryzen Z1 processor, capable of delivering up to 2.8 Teraflops per second. Both versions come paired with AMD Radeon Navi3 Graphics, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 512GB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD.
The ROG Ally is shipped with Windows 11 installed and includes a three-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This device is compatible with games available on platforms such as Steam, EA apps, Epic Games, and Xbox Game Pass. For an immersive gaming experience, Asus has included a dual speaker setup integrated with their Smart Amplifier Technology.
In terms of connectivity, the ROG Ally features a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C port combo for the ROG XG Mobile Interface, and support for a UHS-II microSD card reader. However, the handheld's 40WHr battery with 65W charging support may fall short when compared with competitors like the Steam Deck.
Asus offers the ROG Ally in two configurations. The base model starts at $599, while the more powerful "Extreme" version is priced at $699. For those interested, pre-orders are now open through Asus, and the device will also be available at major retailers such as Best Buy.
