Trademark dispute delays release of 'The Day Before' until November 2023
The Day Before has been delayed for 9 months due to trademark dispute.
Just a few weeks before its release, The Day Before was delayed for almost a year. For those who haven't been following, The Day Before is a large online survival game that looks and plays like a more nuanced and easy-to-use mix of The Division and The Last of Us.
The game has a lot of ambition, and the footage they've shown looks great, which is why it was one of Steam's most-wanted games at one point. Fans are extremely sceptical, despite the fact that the hype is real.
The Day Before postponed for a weird reason
The Day Before was initially scheduled to come out in June 2022, but it was pushed back to March 1, 2023. A lengthy gameplay demonstration of The Day Before was planned by developer Fntastic for the near future, but that has been put off. The developer announced on Twitter that it will once more postpone the release until November 10, 2023, with an odd reason.
Fntastic says that The Day Before was taken off of Steam because someone else owns the trademark for the name and asked Steam to take it off. The developer is currently working on a solution to the problem, but they won't have time for the gameplay demo mentioned above. In addition, they offered a link to the trademark application.

Even though the team might just change the name, there has been a lot of hype about it in the last two years, and PC gamers are familiar with the name, so changing the name could be hard on marketing. We'll just have to wait and see how this plays out.
