Steam Deck, one of the most exciting gaming platforms recently, has launched its new variant.
Valve, renowned for its innovation in gaming technology, has taken the industry by surprise with the unexpected release of a new Steam Deck variant. Despite previous announcements stating no new console would be released before 2025, the company has now introduced a Steam Deck model equipped with an OLED display.
The newly unveiled Steam Deck OLED model maintains much of the beloved features of its predecessor but boasts an upgraded memory from LPDDR5 5500 to LPDDR5 6400. This enhancement is anticipated to improve the device's performance, although practical testing is necessary to confirm any significant impact on the user experience.
Delving into the specifics, the Steam Deck OLED model features a 6 nm AMD APU with a Zen 2 4-core/8-thread CPU and an RDNA 2 GPU. It offers 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and the option between a 512 GB or 1 TB NVMe SSD for storage, expandable via a high-speed microSD card slot.

The control setup is comprehensive, including gamepad controls, assignable grip buttons, analog sticks with capacitive touch, HD haptics, square trackpads with haptic feedback, and pressure-sensitive buttons. A 6-Axis IMU enhances precision, making for an intuitive gaming experience.
The OLED display itself is a standout feature, measuring 7.4 inches diagonally with HDR support, a high resolution, and exceptional color accuracy. Brightness and contrast ratios are impressive, making for a visually stunning experience whether gaming or consuming media.
The Steam Deck OLED doesn't fall short on connectivity and audio, featuring the latest Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 6E standards, dual ambient light sensors for automatic brightness adjustments, and a range of audio output options to suit any gamer's needs.
Powered by a 50Whr battery, the Steam Deck OLED promises hours of gameplay. Its portability is underscored by its compact design, making it an attractive option for gamers on the go. The device will be available starting November 16, with two storage options at different price points. Additionally, a limited edition is being offered exclusively in the United States and Canada.
