Asus's ROG Ally console, which is expected to bring a breath of fresh air to the gaming world, continues to expand the list of countries where it is offered for sale.

The Asus ROG Ally starts selling in more countries

Following its reveal last month, Asus has opened sales for its ROG Ally Handheld console in several markets such as Japan, China, and Italy. The company has also hinted at the upcoming release of the portable gaming device in India.

The official Asus ROG India Twitter account released a teaser for the ROG Ally, indicating its impending launch in India. This news thrills Indian gamers, as the ROG Ally stands as one of the first next-generation handheld gaming consoles debuting in the country. Yes, the Nintendo Switch and the Valve Steam Deck are available in India, yet the respective brands have not formally introduced these products in the nation. This situation leads to high prices and lack of warranty or official customer support for these imported consoles.

India's booming mobile gaming scene indicates a potent demand for handheld gaming devices. However, the pricing of these consoles will significantly influence their acceptance. Recent leaks exposed the pricing details for the ROG Ally with the AMD Ryzen Z1 processor, estimated at approximately $875, while the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor variant is expected to come in around $973. These prices are substantially higher compared to the $599 and $699 price tags in the US, possibly posing a financial hurdle for Indian consumers.

The Asus ROG Ally handheld gaming console boasts a 7-inch IPS display with a Full HD resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen delivers smooth visuals, thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak brightness, and durability-enhancing Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

Powering the console is the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, underpinned by the Zen 4 architecture. A slightly lower-spec variant featuring the Ryzen Z1 processor is also available. The ROG Ally offers robust gaming and multitasking performance with AMD Radeon Navi3 Graphics, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD.

The console runs on Windows 11, granting access to a vast array of games from platforms such as Steam, EA apps, Epic Games, and Xbox Game Pass. It even includes a three-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The gaming experience is further enhanced with Asus' Smart Amplifier Technology driving the dual-speaker setup for superior audio quality.

In terms of connectivity, the console offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C port combo for the ROG XG Mobile Interface, and support for a UHS-II microSD card reader. Yet, it's crucial to note that the 40WHr battery of the ROG Ally, with 65W charging support, may not rival its competitors such as the Steam Deck in terms of battery longevity.
