Sony PS5 Slim now available in the US
The slimmer and more stylish Sony PS5 Slim is now available for gamers in the US.
Sony has officially unveiled the PlayStation 5 Slim, a new, more compact version of its popular gaming console. This release transforms the rumors about a slimmer PS5 into reality, and the console is currently available for purchase on PlayStation Direct for $499.99. The PlayStation 5 Slim is a significant addition to Sony's lineup, following the trend of its predecessors but with a distinct focus on a more streamlined design.
The PlayStation 5 Slim lives up to its name by offering a substantial reduction in size and weight compared to the original model. It boasts a 30% reduction in volume, 18% less weight, and is 24% slimmer. Despite these changes, the PS5 Slim maintains the high-performance standards set by the previous version, ensuring that gamers do not have to compromise on technological capabilities.
In terms of design, the Slim version introduces several enhancements. Notably, it features an additional USB-C port on the front, replacing the USB-A port found on the earlier model. However, the vertical stand for the PS5 Slim is now sold separately, priced at $29.99, marking a departure from the previous design where it was included.

A particularly interesting feature for users of the Digital Edition is the option to retrofit a disk drive, a capability that was not available in the earlier model. This addition offers greater flexibility and expands the functionality of the console.
In related news, Sony is also launching new audio devices designed to complement the PlayStation 5 experience. The PlayStation Pulse Explore earbuds and Pulse Elite headset are now available for pre-order worldwide. These devices are specifically tailored for use with the PlayStation 5, featuring lossless audio quality, AI-enhanced noise rejection, surround sound, and a retractable boom microphone for the headset.
