Sony, home to the renowned PlayStation brand, is excited about the addition of the PlayStation 5 Slim.
Sony has recently unveiled its latest PlayStation 5 model, which is anticipated to be both slimmer and shorter than its predecessor. This new model further features an attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive, providing gamers with an enhanced choice in their gameplay experience. The revamped PS5 is set to be available in stores come November.
Contrary to its size, this sleeker version promises to deliver the same powerful performance that the PlayStation 5 has been celebrated for. Sony has managed to reduce the console's volume by an impressive 30%, while its weight has seen a reduction of between 18% and 24% depending on specific models. The design boasts of four distinct cover panels, with the upper part showcasing a glossy finish contrasted by the matte base.

A notable design update in this model is the bulge added to the side of the console to accommodate the disc drive, which has been designed to be removable and replaceable. Furthermore, a dual slit has been introduced on each side, and the front of the unit has been equipped with two USB-C ports, replacing the single USB-C and USB-A ports of the current model. Each PS5 will now come standard with a horizontal stand, and for those interested, a vertical stand is available for purchase at $29.99, compatible with all PS5 models.
Pricing for this new model has been strategically set to remain competitive in the gaming market. In the US, the PS5 with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive is priced at $499.99, while the Digital Edition is set at $449.99. European gamers can expect to pay 549.99 EUR for the standard model and 449.99 EUR for the Digital Edition. For those in the UK, the prices are 479.99 GBP and 389.99 GBP for the standard and Digital Editions, respectively. In Japan, the standard PS5 will retail for 66,980 JPY, and the Digital Edition will be available at 59,980 JPY.
