Some Blizzard games will go offline in China!
World of Warcraft and other Blizzard titles will cease to be available in China next year. Here all the details we know.
From time to time, banned applications and games come to fore in China. Some games or applications may be banned due to different policies of China. Another similar incident has come up. Overwatch 2 and World of Warcraft will be suspended in China by Blizzard Entertainment due to the company's failure to reach an agreement with partner NetEase.
Some Blizzard games will go offline in China!
These games, along with Starcraft, Diablo III, Heroes of the Storm, and Warcraft III:Beginning on January 23, 2023, Reforged will not be available in China. According to NetEase, the recently released Diablo Immortal will not be affected because it is covered by a separate agreement.
According to Blizzard's press release, "The two parties have not reached a deal to renew the agreements that is consistent with Blizzard’s operating principles and commitments to players and employees, and the agreements are set to expire in January 2023."
Reports from Bloomberg suggest that, the deal involved not only money but also who owned the intellectual property and player data. The lengthy agreement did not appear to come to an amicable conclusion."Developers and gamers will have a whole new level understanding of how much damage a jerk can make one day, when what has happened behind the scenes can be told," said NetEase president of global investment and partnership Simon Zhu in a LinkedIn post that TechCrunch discovered. "We are looking for alternatives to bring our games back to players in the future," Blizzard stated.
