Here's the best-selling video game of all time!
What's the peak of the gaming world? If various high-graphic games pop into your mind, set them aside.
Holding the esteemed title of the world's best-selling video game, Minecraft has seen over 300 million copies shipped in the approximately 15 years since its initial release. This monumental achievement solidifies Mojang Studios' position in the gaming industry, especially when compared to other major titles. For perspective, Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5, which holds the second spot in sales, has sold over 185 million copies. Despite being launched years ago, in 2013, Minecraft's popularity has only surged, with sales crossing the 200 million mark in 2020 alone.
Mojang Studios made this major sales announcement during a recent Minecraft Live event. In addition to celebrating their success, the live stream offered insights into some forthcoming features in the game.

Among the anticipated updates is a trial chamber teeming with traps, and a series of rooms and corridors filled with mobs for players to challenge. Players can also expect two new downloadable content packs: Star Wars: Path of the Jedi and Planet Earth CLD, set to release on 7th November 2023 and early 2024, respectively.
Reflecting on this monumental achievement, Helen Chiang, the head of Mojang Studios, expressed her awe, stating, “As we near the 15th anniversary, it's remarkable to see Minecraft maintaining its position as one of the all-time best-sellers, with sales now surpassing 300 million. It's a milestone that seemed almost fantastical when we were all starting out, placing our very first blocks.”
