Dead Island 2 launches a week early after years of delays
The release date of "Dead Island 2" has been moved up by one week.
The highly anticipated game "Dead Island 2" has been delayed for a long time, but the publisher, Deep Silver, and the developer, Dambuster Studios, are making up for it by bringing forward the release date by one week.
The game will now be available on April 21, 2023, seven days earlier than the previous release date of April 28, 2023. The reason for the change in release date is not specified by Deep Silver, but it could be related to the recent shift in the release date of "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor" to April 28, 2023.
The new, more favorable schedule change was announced on social media and came along with the announcement that "Dead Island 2" has reached the gold status, indicating that the majority of development work is completed. Dambuster Studios posted a humorous video making light of the wait for the game.
You asked for it, you got it. Dead Island 2 went gold and it's coming out a week early.

Dead Island 2 revealed nearly nine years ago
"Dead Island 2" was initially announced in June 2014, after nearly 9 years of development, fans have been left with little information. The journey of development was difficult, as the game went through multiple developer changes.
Initially, the studio Yager Development, known for "Spec Ops: The Line," was responsible for the sequel, then work was passed to Sumo Digital, the developer of "Sackboy: A Big Adventure," in 2016.
Finally, in 2019, Dambuster Studios, the team behind "Homefront: The Revolution," took over and will be releasing the game in April 2023.
