As the handheld gaming console market sees new devices every day, AYANEO Pocket Air will be the latest addition.
Unveiled back in July, the AYANEO Pocket Air, a handheld gaming console powered by the Dimensity 1200 SoC, had its initial launch timeline set for pre-orders in July and shipping to begin in August. However, as we close out the month of August, AYANEO has provided an updated schedule for its eagerly awaited device.
The company recently announced that sales for the console would commence on September 6th at 12:00 UTC. For those who supported the project on Indiegogo, shipments are projected to go out by the end of September. On the pricing front, an Early Bird offer places the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model at $279. However, once these units are snapped up, the price on Indiegogo will escalate to $299. Additionally, for those eyeing more extensive specs, there's the Pocket Air with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage available at an early bird price of $329. The top-tier model with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage is priced at $399 for early supporters. It's worth noting that these promotional prices will surge by $50 after the Early Bird stocks are exhausted.

Diving deeper into the device's features, the AYANEO Pocket Air flaunts a 5.5-inch 1080P AMOLED display, boasting wide viewing angles and a remarkable color range. The display's intricacies include a pixel density of 404 PPI and impressive color gamut volumes spanning various standards like sRGB, NTSC, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB. Performance-wise, the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 CPU is at its core, with memory configurations ranging from 6 to 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and storage variants between 128 and 256GB UFS 3.1.
Aesthetically, the console captivates with its Retro White hue, and it’s functionally designed with an X8-level air-cooled system ensuring efficient thermal management. For uninterrupted gaming marathons, a 7350mAh battery powers the console. Gamers can also look forward to a seamless experience, courtesy of its Master controller for Android, hall-sensing joystick, Hall triggers, and an X-axis linear motor. The device also incorporates dual six-axis gyroscopes for meticulous motion tracking. Other noteworthy features include the SoundTap+Magic Sound Vibration System, a myriad of connectivity options, and a fingerprint reader subtly integrated into the power key. The console's dimensions are 224 x 89.5 x 17mm, and it weighs in at 380g. Connectivity is ensured through Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and 4G/LTE support across major global bands. Lastly, the AYANEO Pocket Air is pre-loaded with Android 12, complemented by a bespoke desktop launcher known as AYA Space.
