Netflix has been focusing on anime productions for a while. The platform, which gives priority to Asian productions, faced some problems with the production of new anime. This week, Netflix released Dog and Boy which caused some problems online. A lot of people on Twitter said that Netflix was using AI to avoid paying artists.

The anime showed "AI (+ Human)" listed as the background designer. Rinna Inc., an AI artwork company, and a few AI researchers are also mentioned in the credits. While many artists worry that AI could devalue their work, anime creators have a particularly pressing concern. AI has been getting better about creating so artists are also concerned. The majority of Japan's animation studios rely on virtually unpaid freelancers to complete much of the work that makes anime possible.
