Kojima admits Death Stranding will have a movie adaptation
Hideo Kojima and Alex Lebovici will co-produce the movie through Kojima Productions and Hammerstone Studios.
Death Stranding movie is now official after a few hints. Kojima Productions and Sony recently announced that Death Stranding 2 is being developed for PlayStation 5, but there is another announcement that surprises fans of the series even more. A movie adaptation of the open-world game has also been officially confirmed.
Death Stranding movie will bring new stories and characters
With the film co-produced by Hideo Kojima via the Kojima Productions Banner and by Alex Lebovici under the leadership of Hammerstone Studios, Kojima's dream of making a movie will finally come true. Kojima Productions and Allan Ungar will serve as executive producers and the film will be financed by HammerStone.
“I couldn’t be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios,” said Kojima. “This is a pivotal moment for the franchise and I’m really looking forward to collaborating with them in bringing DEATH STRANDING to the big screen.” said Lebovici.
“We are thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to partner with brilliant and iconic Hideo Kojima on his first film adaptation,” he added. “Unlike other big budget tentpole video game adaptations, this will be something far more intimate and grounded. Our goal is to redefine what a video game adaptation could be when you have creative and artistic freedom. This film will be an authentic “Hideo Kojima” production.”
It has been confirmed that the movie will feature new characters and stories not found in the game, but no official announcement has yet been made as to who will write or direct the script.
