Bad news for Netflix users! New fee for "Extra user" is on the way
Netflix started to resort to different methods because of company's current situation. Reportedly extra user fees will be expected.
Netflix, being one of the most important and steaming services in the world has been having some hard time with its password sharing feature. Company has accounced some lost its first quarter of subscribers in a decade, therefore new methods started to show up. Soon will come the next phase of Netflix's on password sharing.
During its quarterly earnings call on Tuesday, the company made the announcement that, beginning in the early part of 2023, it will charge customers who share their login credentials an additional monthly fee.
Netflix to require fee for "extra users"
This move is an extension of a pilot program that is currently running in Latin America. Under the program, users outside of your immediate household who use your login to access the service are charged extra for "extra user" subaccounts. Essentially, each and every listing on the "Who's Watching?" page. Apparently if the extra user does not live with you, screen will cost you more.
After announcing that it had lost subscribers earlier this year, the news comes as Netflix tries to get back on track with growth and settle with investors. Additionally, the company recently announced the launch of a less expensive, ad-supported tier on November 3 for $7 per month. By November 10, the new tier will be available in a dozen nations, including Mexico, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Soon the feature should be available in the whole world.
