Turkey rolls out first Turkish EV, mass production to kick off soon
Turkey's national automobile adventure officially started at the Togg Gemlik Campus, which was opened with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Turkey set to work to produce first national and electric car called "Togg" in June 25, 2018. The countdown for the mass production of Togg, whose preview vehicles were introduced by President Erdogan on December 27, 2019, and the construction of the factory started on July 18, 2020, ended in October 29, 2022, which was 99th anniversary of Republic Day of Turkey. The factory, which successfully passed to mass production capacity, has been officially opened and introduced.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan unveiled the first domestically produced electric vehicle, the C-SUV with six color options at nation's 99th anniversary. President Erdogan took a test drive while he was in Bursa, a northwestern province, at the Togg Gemlik Campus, where the car will be mass-produced.
"We are all witnessing the fulfillment of the 60-year-old dream," president Erdogan said, and he added: "Togg is the name of the project that gives us all the pleasure of establishing this common dream for the strong future of our country."
Three models of Togg were introduced, to hit roads in the 2023
The first electric car of Turkey, Togg, will be on the roads in the first quarter of 2023. When the Togg Gemlik Campus reaches its full capacity, 175,000 vehicles will be produced annually, and 4,300 and 20,000 people will be employed directly and indirectly, respectively. In the inauguration, Togg C-SUV, Togg C-Sedan and Togg C-X Coupé models were introduced. After the C-SUV receives required certifications, it will be put into mass production immediately this year.
The president also stated Turkey has made a deal with one of the world's best firms for the production of lithium-ion batteries for Togg in Turkey.
"We will soon be laying the foundation of a battery factory which will be built on 609,000-square-meter (6.5-million-square-mile) land next to the Togg facility," he added. The president of Turkey also stated that Turkish citizens will be able to pre-order Togg automobiles beginning in February 2023.
