Toyota has left the automotive world awestruck with the introduction of the stylish Land Cruiser Se Electric SUV, a groundbreaking addition to their lineup that combines the iconic Land Cruiser heritage with electric mobility.
Toyota has taken the wraps off its latest EV van concept, the Kayoibako, a remarkable vehicle that redefines versatility and space utilization. This concept van is essentially a "box on wheels," and its design is ingeniously inspired by shipping containers. The Kayoibako concept EV van is proudly showcased as part of Toyota's lineup at the Japan Mobility Show 2023.

The Kayoibako's appearance evokes that of a space cargo hauler, and its design simplicity could pave the way for a transition into a production vehicle. Both the interior and exterior feature minimalist aesthetics, aligning with its functionality as a highly modular vehicle platform. This modularity allows it to adapt to a wide range of applications, serving as a cargo van, shuttle bus, mobile retail kiosk, or a shuttle delivery van. The van measures 13 feet in length, approximately 6 feet in width, and stands 6 feet tall.
The Kayoibako incorporates a massive curved display in the upper dashboard area, promising a tech-laden infotainment experience for occupants. Notably, it utilizes cameras in place of traditional rear-view and side mirrors, providing an expansive view of the vehicle's surroundings. These digital side mirrors are seamlessly integrated into the van's dashboard display. Furthermore, the Kayoibako appears to have a low load floor, simplifying the process of loading cargo without the need for a ramp.
While this concept vehicle is undoubtedly impressive, Toyota has not yet revealed any immediate plans for the production and release of the Kayoibako EV. It will be fascinating to see if Toyota transforms this visionary concept into a real-world, production-ready vehicle in the future. "30"
