Tesla unveils its revitalized Model Y electric vehicle (EV) in China, revealing subtle changes across various features and maintaining notable specifications. The updated version is available in three distinct formats: rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and a Performance version. While all the essential specifications remain consistent with the Made-in-China (MIC) Tesla Model Y, several nuanced adjustments have been implemented.
The starting prices for each of the available Model Y versions hold steady, and the rationale behind the updates remains unspecified. Although the updates might not be considered groundbreaking as compared to the previous versions of the Model 3, there are murmurs suggesting a substantial upgrade to the Juniper expected to drop in 2024.
In a noticeable shift in aesthetics, the new Model Y introduces a sleek black 19-inch wheel design, a departure from the former silver Gemini design. This change is not merely cosmetic; the new wheels are speculated to present improved aerodynamics and an enhanced CLTC range. The rear-wheel-drive Model Y, for instance, boasts an estimated range of 344 miles (554 km), while its dual-motor, all-wheel-drive counterpart, the Long Range version, claims a CLTC range of 428 miles (688 km).
