Tesla's eagerly awaited new model, Tesla Model 3 Project Highland, came into view during its test.
The automotive world is abuzz with excitement as glimpses of the upgraded Tesla Model 3 for 2023, codenamed "Highland", have been captured on roads stretching from Xinjiang, China to California, USA. This anticipated prototype, swathed in a black camouflage fabric characteristic of pre-production units, has intensified speculations regarding Tesla's production timeline. Many predict that the manufacturing process might kick off in September, leading to potential deliveries as soon as October.
The prototype's journey possibly began at Tesla’s renowned Giga Shanghai production site, given that the test drive spanned an estimated 2,000 to 2,500 miles, from Shanghai all the way to Xinjiang. Tesla's intent with this revamped Model 3 is clear - to solidify its foothold in the fiercely competitive Chinese auto market. This upcoming variant promises discernible enhancements in design, both inside and out.

Insiders have alluded to the car being slightly elongated, offering a more aerodynamic silhouette. Leaked images have showcased subtle transformations, such as a redesigned front bumper and headlight configuration. A standout feature expected in this vehicle is Tesla’s cutting-edge Hardware 4.0, designed to elevate its autonomous driving prowess. This is coupled with a refined interior aesthetic.
While the company remains tight-lipped about the intricate details of the powertrain and battery, the rumor mill hints at the possible incorporation of the 66 kWh M3P battery, courtesy of CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd.). This battery might employ lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, which, if true, would enhance the Model 3’s affordability, safety, and range.
