Over 97% of affected vehicles, according to Tesla, have the new software, which is being released as part of the software fix. However, this is the seventeenth recall that Tesla has issued in 2022, affecting over 3.4 million vehicles. It adds to the argument made by Tesla's detractors that the company's poor build quality hinders its ability to attract potential EV buyers. However, despite the numerous post-purchase issues, the business's profits, which have doubled in the past year, have not suffered. Sam e situations happened before as well.

Tesla has called back many vehicles before due to some problems. The harmful software was released on October 11 and was meant to update the EPAS system "to better detect unexpected steering assist torque" rather than the other way around. Per Tesla's own examinations as answered to the NHTSA, the product made something like 314 vehicles misclassify knocks and potholes as unforeseen force on the EPAS framework, prompting "diminished or lost power guiding help," Tesla said in its NHTSA report.
