McLaren has now produced an electric scooter!

McLaren Applied has pulled the wraps off their latest creation, the Lavoie Series 1 electric scooter. This high-powered, foldable two-wheeler is the brainchild of designer Ian Callum and marks a new venture for McLaren's burgeoning sub-brand. The scooter's patent-pending design allows it to be easily collapsed and transported with the push of a single button, an innovative feature that eliminates the need for a traditional kickstart in favor of the newly-introduced Park Mode.

The Lavoie Series 1 is offered in two variants, differentiated by their battery capacities. The base model comes equipped with a 468Wh battery, providing an impressive 25-mile range at an average speed of 12mph. If you're after a little more longevity, the Lavoie Series 1 MAX offers an upgraded 702Wh battery, increasing the range to 38 miles. Housed within a waterproof, hard-shell case, these batteries adhere to strict safety standards in both Europe and North America and can reach full charge within three hours.

The scooter also offers three distinct power modes: Eco Mode 1, Cruising Mode 2, and Sporty Mode 3, each tailored to different riding styles and conditions. For the speed enthusiasts, Mode 3 unleashes the scooter's full power and throttle. Moreover, users can adjust the top speed of their scooter using a companion app. Additional features include integrated rear and headlights, providing extra visibility and safety during night-time rides.

Now to the all-important question – the price. The standard Lavoie Series 1 is priced at £1,890 (approximately $2,404), while the Lavoie Series 1 MAX is available for £2,190 (around $2,782). Regardless of the model, these scooters have an unrestricted top speed of 25mph, which can be adjusted in accordance with regional regulations.

Exclusivity is part of the Lavoie Series 1’s appeal, with only 469 units set to be produced, a nod to McLaren's rich history. In addition to the allure of limited availability, owners will be treated to a decorative Callum signature plaque and will have exclusive access to various promotions and event invitations. Preorders for the Lavoie Series 1 are now open, requiring a deposit to secure one.
