A car giant experiences a surge in electric vehicle sales
Sales of electric vehicles continue to increase daily, with some brands experiencing this growth at an even faster rate.
Nissan is witnessing a resurgent performance in the U.S. market, as evidenced by their Q3 2023 sales numbers, particularly in the electric vehicle (EV) segment. In the third quarter alone, Nissan reported a sale of 200,334 vehicles, marking a 40% hike from the figures of the same period the previous year. Furthermore, their cumulative sales for the year reached approximately 648,219 vehicles, representing a 28% increment year-over-year.
However, the spotlight is on Nissan's electric vehicles, where sales have surged by a whopping 376% year-over-year. This growth rate is the highest since the last quarter of 2014. Even though EVs currently comprise a mere 3% of Nissan's total sales, the surge indicates a promising potential for further growth in this sector.

The Ariya model has emerged as Nissan's leading performer in EV sales, recording a sale of 4,504 units in just the third quarter. In contrast, the Nissan Leaf, which was once a pioneer in the electric car market, witnessed a modest sales growth, moving 1,570 units in Q3 2023, a slight increase from 1,276 units during the same period in the previous year.
The combined sales of Ariya and Leaf for the year amounted to 15,503 EVs, marking a 74% increase compared to the previous year. This accounts for a commendable 2.4% of Nissan's total U.S. sales for the year.
